He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl "Pete" Carlson and Esther Carlson Blakely (Woldum); his son Pete Carlson; and his daughter-in-law Stacy Carlson. He is survived by: his brother-in-law Ken; his wife Marvel Carlson (Rollefson); his children, Tammy Carlson and Paul Carlson (Laurie Carlson); his sister Judy Shorter (Ken Shorter); his sibling's children, Julie Downing (JD Downing) and Jeff Shorter (Raene Shorter); his brother-in-law Michael Rollefson (Holly Rollefson); his grandchildren, Dori Seegar (Keith Seegar), Jesi Carlson (Pete Rotkis), Emy Carlson, Mikael Carlson (Elizabeth Selander), Avery (Carlson) and Britni Hemmer; and his great grandchildren, Sophie Seegar, Lydia Rotkis, Rex Rotkis, Noah Sturm, Elijah Hauck, Izaiah Hauck, Paxtyn Gaskins and Rhea Gaskins.
