He was predeceased by: his parents, Theodore'Ted' Lien and Minnie Lien (Leithoff); his brothers, John, Marion, Clem, Edward, Jim and Bill Lien; and his great grandchild John Eric Hoy.
He is survived by: his wife Bonnie Lien of Watertown, SD; his children, Brenda Murr (Michael) of Decherd, TN, Dan Lien (Deb) of Plattsmouth, NE, Julie Platt (Michael) of Rockford, IL and Lori Straum (John) of Minnetonka, MN; his stepchildren, Doris Brekhus (James) of Brandon, SD, Anne Kriese (Cliff) of Henry, SD, Mary Pat Becker of Scott City, KS and Eric Hoy of Texas; his sister Betty Rodgers; and his sister-in-law Luree Lien of Nebraska. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.
