With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of James E. Curtis (Watertown, South Dakota), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on July 9, 2025 at the age of 73. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Miles Curtis (Artis Curtis) and Artis Curtis (Joy); his wife Peggy Bushfield; his children, Kathy Waklee (Joe) of Montevideo, MN, Tim Curtis of Box Elder, SD, Debbie Elsen (Kyle) of Bath, SD and Tom Curtis (Emma) of Jamestown, ND.; his grandchildren, Chariton Kretzschmar (Brandon), Cayson Elsen (Chesnee Wagner), Kamden Knudson, Ayleigh, Alyvia Curtis, Miles, Ben, Charlotte, Amelia and Theo Curtis; his siblings, Carol Hurley of Bellevue, NE and Michael Curtis of Sioux Falls; his siblings-in-law, Valerie Curtis of Mitchell, SD, Mark Bushfield (Mary Ellen) of Hitchcock, SD and Mary Beth Bushfield of Watertown, SD; his brother Donnie Curtis; his siblings-in-law, Larry Hurley, Larry Bushfield and Lora Bushfield; his daughter-in-law Kayla Curtis (Knudson); and his granddaughter Harper Waklee.
Visitation was held on Monday, July 14th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel (1111 4th St NE, Watertown, SD 57201). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, July 15th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the First United Methodist Church (4 2nd Ave SE, Watertown, SD 57201).
