With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Joan Hawkins of Watertown, South Dakota, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on April 26, 2026 at the age of 82. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though Joan may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Joan touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Karl Bates and Ardis Bates (Engebretson); her husband Don; her daughter Kristi Hawkins; and her granddaughter Kantessa Frankel.
She is survived by: her daughters, Karla Hawkins and Kari Knox (Jim); her brother-in-law Lynn Hawkins (Valerie) of Watertown, SD; and her grandchildren, Jacob Hawkins (Laura), Zachary Dailey (Katie), Christian Knox and Carson Knox. She is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren.
