He was predeceased by: his parents, George F. Kotlan and Christa A. Kotlan (Meadows); his siblings, Sharon Anania (Vern), Janet Cooper and Jim Williams; his stepfather-in-law William Ostrander; his father-in-law Marvin Mundhenke; and his pet Joey.
He is survived by: his wife Julie of Watertown; his children, Mike Kotlan (Franny) of Naperville, IL, Chris Kotlan (Berenice) of Oro Valley, AZ, Nick Hogstad (Stacey) of Spring Hill, TN, Josh Hogstad (Cori) of Fruita, CO, Becky McConnell (Mitch) of Evans, CO and Matthew Kotlan of St. Paul, MN; his sisters, Valerie Radeka and Kathleen Kotlan of Joliet, IL; his mother-in-law Karen Ostrander of Watertown; and his former wife Linda Kotlan of Oro Valley, AZ. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
