He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Stern and Pearl Stern (Regnier); his sister Marcella Gross; and his son Michael Manson. He is survived by: his wife Sue Stern of Watertown; his children, Craig and Sally Kranz (Mark) of Watertown; and his siblings, Marvin "Bud" Stern (Marilyn) of Conde, SD, Patty Flatten of Clark, SD and Gloria Grewe (Allen) of Clark, SD.. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, October 30th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel (1111 4th St NE, Watertown, SD 57201). A funeral service was held on Friday, October 31st 2025 at 10:30 AM at the First United Methodist Church (4 2nd Ave SE, Watertown, SD 57201).
