He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Brownell and Ardell Brownell (Brinkman). He is survived by: his children, Sharon Herman (Travis Klug) of Hayti, Eric Brownell of Brookings, Colby Brownell (Jessica) of Watertown, Rodney Brownell (Kayla) of Watertown and Chelsea Brownell of Watertown; and his brother Mike "Bernie" Brownell of Watertown. He is also survived by eight grandchildren.
