She was predeceased by : her parents, Herman Hemp and Nathalie Hemp (Berg); her brothers, Maclyn Hemp (Pike), Robert Hemp and Donald Hemp; her son-in-law Dellas Cole; and her brothers-in-law, Michael Carter and Richard Unsicker (Dick).

She is survived by : her husband James Carter (Jim) of Watertown; her children, Margie Cole of Brookings and Bradley Carter (Heather) of Watertown; her grandchildren, Danielle Anderson (Ross) of Brookings, Dustin Cole of Arlington and Raina Bundy (Riggins) of Sioux Falls; her great grandchildren, Mackennzie of Brookings, Lyndzie of Brookings, Lexzie of Brookings and Raiden of Brookings; her sisters-in-law, Cleo Unsicker of Mt. Pleasant and Joan Hemp of Florence; and her in-laws, Marian Brandt (Dean) of Redwood Falls, MN, Ray Carter (Diane) of Watertown and Milt Carter (Chris) of Watertown. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
