He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Kretzschmar and Helen Kretzschmar (Spaniol); his wife Linda; his siblings, Allen, Sharon and Lyle; and his son Paul.

He is survived by: his children, Chris Kretzschmar (Joleen) of Kulm, ND, Keith Kretzschmar (Rachel) of Bristol, SD, Michelle Butterfield (Adam) of South Shore, SD and Kevin Kretzschmar of Bryant, SD; his grandchildren, Mikey, Megan, Brandon (Chariton), Evan (Cassie), Emma, Caroline, Kain (Emily), Christina, Annjoleena, Cooper and Payton; and his great grandchildren, Maerolyn, Penelope, Abel, Daisy and Rosalina. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Furness Funeral Home (402 N Commercial St, Clark, SD 57225). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the Carpenter United Methodist Church.
