He was predeceased by : his parents, Elroy Gilbertson and Louise Gilbertson; his sister Karen; and his stepfather Robert Jesme. He is survived by : his wife Lynette Sutherlin of Wilmot, SD; his stepsons, Scott Sutherlin (Erin) of Eagan, MN and Robert Sutherlin of Apple Valley, MN; his brothers, Keith Gilbertson (Becky) of Alexandria, MN and Merle Gilbertson (Linda) of Ft. Myers, FL; and his nieces and nephews, Jim Christofersen (Gaye) of Blaine, MN, Chad Gilbertson (Shannon) of Delafield, WI, Kelly Roach (Brian) of Maple Grove, MN, Neil Gilbertson of Fargo, ND and Emily Finley of Fargo, ND. He is also survived by six step-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mike's name can be given to the American Diabetes Association.
