He was predeceased by: his parents, Ervin Hansen and Frances Hansen (Weinrich); and his wife Marianne Schoep. He is survived by: his children, Jane Slota (Calvin), Scott Hansen (Pat) and Tammy Miles (Pete Calderon); his grandchildren, Adam Slota (Kim), Emily Rohmiller (Matt), Jordan Hansen (Bre) and Hanna Miles; his sisters, Darlene Albers and Debbie Harte; and his siblings-in-law, Beth Roder, Arden Schoep (Diane) and Cary Schoep (Elaine). He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 1st 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM and on Wednesday, September 2nd 2026 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. A prayer was held on Tuesday, September 1st 2026 from 6:00 PM to 6:30 PM at the Rexwinkel Funeral Home - Le Mars (107 12th St SE, Le Mars, IA 51031). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, September 2nd 2026 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the St. Paul Lutheran Church - Remsen (423 S Washington St, Remsen, IA 51050). A burial was held on Wednesday, September 2nd 2026 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at the Resthaven Memory Gardens (33393 150th St, Le Mars, IA 51031).
