Fred Hornstra Jr. Obituary

We are sad to announce that, on September 15, 2020, at the age of 90, Fred Hornstra Jr. of Yankton, South Dakota passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Hornstra and Ruby Hornstra; his former wife Ila; and his brother Donald Hornstra. He is survived by: his wife Karen Dawson; his daughters, Daria Miller (Brent) of Charlotte, NC and Karla Akwa (Kevin Krippner) of Downs; his grandchildren, Jason Miller (Leslie), Brian Miller (Olivia), Brittany Miller, Noah Akwa and Anniah Akwa; and his siblings, Norma Henriksen of Oyster Bay, NY, Audrey Foley (Ken) of Papillion, NE, Charles Hornstra (Joan) of Torrance, CA, Darrell Hornstra of Mechanicsville, VA, Beverly Phelps (James) of Los Ranchos, NM, Barbara Emmons of Anna Texas and Mary Pat Karlson of Fontana, CA. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Trinity Lutheran Debt Relief or the National Music Museum at the University of South Dakota.
