He was predeceased by: his parents, Gerald Kleinschmit and Irene Kleinschmit (Pinkelman); his wife Sharon Christensen; his parents-in-law, Roy and Vlasta Christensen; his siblings, Dorothy Tramp, Joan Lammers, Charles, Ronald and Dennis Kleinschmit; and his siblings-in-law, Phyllis, Pat Kleinschmit and Jim Kusel.
He is survived by: his children, Douglas Kleinschmit (Lori) of Hartford, SD, Shiela Steffen (Todd Quatier) of Mission Hill, SD, Sherri Gall of Norfolk, NE and Geraldine Teply (Tom) of Yankton; his grandchildren, Douglas Jr., Lucus, Erik Kleinschmit, Lisa Mayfield (Josh), Jeremy Meyer, Dylan Steffen (Darrah), Mason Steffen, Sally, Nathan Quatier, Christian Gall (Zoey), Brooklynn Gall and Carter Teply; his great grandchildren, Gaven Kleinschmit and Abaddon Gall; his siblings, Clinton Kleinschmit (Chevonne), Eileen Kusel, Roman Kleinschmit and Dale Kleinschmit (Sandy); and his siblings-in-law, Connie Kleinschmit, Carolyn Kleinschmit and Daryl Lammers. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family are preferred.
