He is survived by: his wife Shar Peterson of Yankton; his sister Ricki Hunt of DeLand, FL; Tracey Smith, Jordan Wade (Jackie) of Apex, NC, Dominic, Jaxon, Nathan, Sara Aguayo of Daytona Beach, FL, Dylan, Arianna of Brooklyn, NY, Scott Smith (Marijke) of DeLand, FL, Katie Smith and Landon of Deltona, FL.. He is also survived by nieces, nephew.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home – Yankton (2901 Douglas Ave, Yankton, SD 57078). A prayer will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 9th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the First United Methodist Church (207 W 11th St, Yankton, SD 57078).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, the Avera Cancer Institute, the American Cancer Society (https://donate.cancer.org) for prostate cancer research, or For The Love of Animals. Consider a donation, as requested by the family.
