He was predeceased by: his parents, Everett Rhoades and Bernice Rhoades; and his former wife Marilyn Kay Scollon. He is survived by: his wife Patti Brooks of St. Paul; his children, Michael (Patrizia), Anne Toupal (Darwin Kampa), Jennifer Tofteland (Dean) of Luverne, MN, Carolyn Rhoades of Yankton, SD, Susan Beers (Jon) of Luverne, MN and Molly McDonald (Justin) of Wentworth, SD.; his grandchildren, Alex (Kayla), Marques Toupal, Anna Maxwell (Austin), Erik (Hailey), Daniel (Jenna Zewiske), Solveig Tofteland, Eleanor Rhoades (Will), Declan Beers (Shelby Kingery), Mara and Claire McDonald; his great grandchildren, Max, Lincoln Toupal, Lily, Baby and Theodore Reardon; his brother Guy Rhoades (Sandy) of Fort Myers, FL; his nephews, Brad Rhoades (Kristyn) of Plymouth, MI and Brian Rhoades (Michele) of Nashville, TN; his stepchildren, Dan Brooks (Marne) of Minneapolis, MN and Kelly Paradise (Marc); and his stepgrandchildren, Grace, Lucia Brooks, Olivia, Tom and Joe Paradise.
The Covid pandemic and subsequent lockdowns were especially hard on him and his fellow veterans but he was able to video chat daily with his wife Patti and Zoom weekly with his children.
His contributions to this world are too numerous to mention them all in this notice and it is heartbreaking to know that he is no longer in the world that was made so much better by his presence and contributions to it.
