He was predeceased by: his wife Brenda Sue Underwood Mitchell; his parents, Helen Mitchell and Edward Mitchell; his in-laws, J. L. and Marie Underwood; his sister Pat; and his brothers-in-law, Carl Allen and Alvin Poore.
He is survived by: his sons, Michael (Wendy) and Dan (Carissa); his grandchildren, Darren, Nola, Brody, Selena (Jason) and Athena (Michael); his great grandchildren, Asher and Iris; his siblings, Phyllis Poore and Jimmy Mitchell; and his sister-in-law Judy Reamer (Byron). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
