She was predeceased by : her mother Emma Jean Church Layne. She is survived by : her father Lewis Edward Layne; her sister Judy Ann Curtis; her husband Gene Whitman; her children, Connie Glass (Tim), Norma Wanamaker (Jim), Jeremy Meeks, Jesse Meeks (Jennifer) and Ethon Whitman Burns (Sarah); and her siblings, Larry Layne (Debbie) and Darlene Seagroves (Jerry). She is also survived by 15 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
