He was predeceased by: his mother Clayta Huntley Smartt. He is survived by: his father Loren Smartt; his brothers, LD Smartt and Jimmy; his pet Underhill; his wife Barbara Smartt; his son Leslie Smartt (Kristi); his sister Imogene Knight; his grandchildren, Kristen Smartt (Russell Layne), Kaylee Nance (Jaden), Carlee Smartt (Trevor Nunley), Kynadee Smartt (Hunter Green), Mariah Wise and Thomas Byers; and his great grandchildren, Crew, Bo, Cove, Tori, Rush, Piersyn, Southern, Westyn and Adicus. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 24th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Layne Funeral Home (182 Fitchtown Rd, Altamont, TN 37301). A funeral service was held on Thursday, September 25th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Thursday, September 25th 2025 at the Hunerwadel Cemetery.
