He is survived by: his wife Susan; his children, David Johnson (Kaori) of Indiana, Doug Johnson (Shannon) of Knoxville and Becky Johnson (Pat) of Knoxville; his grandchildren, Rachel Cox, Daniel Johnson, Michael Johnson (Cassie), Sala Johnson, Rena Johnson (Dylan), Sam Ash (Sima) and Sophia Tawil (Joseph); his great grandchildren, Lennon, Lucy Cox, Capri Johnson, Yehuda, Kobe Ash, Judah and Danny Tawil; and his siblings, Bobby Johnson of South Carolina, Carol Cox of Alabama and Bryan Smith of Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Norris United Methodist Church in his memory.
