He was predeceased by: his parents, Ray Johnny Kirk and Helen Eleanor Kirk-Messick; his brother Johnny Roy Kirk; and his daughter Jennifer Carol Kirk. He is survived by: his wife Ruby Quinn; his siblings, Brenda Winter, Nancy Richardson, Linda Coakley, Rickey Messick and Terry Wayne Kirk; his children, Anthony Kirk (Jessica), James Ray "Bubba" Kirk, Jr., Dottie Anderson (Randy) and Bobbie Sue Grizzle (Mike); and his grandchildren, Raylan, Jaxson, Tommy, Jenna, Tyler, Jonathan, Pam, Heather, Shane and Shelby. He is also survived by many great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 7th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Thursday, October 8th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Woodbine Funeral Home, Hickory Chapel (5852 Nolensville Pk, Nashville, TN 37211). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Mapleview Cemetery (411 Maple St, Smyrna, TN 37167).
