Family, friends, and acquaintances remember Arveda for her warmth, thoughtfulness, and the moments shared together. She was predeceased by: her parents, Dewey Hampton and Ophia Hennessee Hampton; her husband Garner Shelton; her sisters, Minalee Coleman and Rella Crowe; and her son Harold Shelton.
She is survived by: her children, Darrell Shelton (Starlingale), Willa Maxwell (Steve) and Lisa Leamon (Tommy); her daughter-in-law Dianne Shelton; and her brother Clifford Hampton (Kathy Morrow). She is also survived by 5 Granddaughters; 3 Grandsons; 17 Greatgrandchildren;several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday, August 31st 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home (521 N Jackson St, Athens, TN 37303). A funeral service was held on Monday, August 31st 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Monday, August 31st 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Clearwater Cemetery (964 Co Rd 180, Athens, TN 37303).
