George Edd McCollum Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of George Edd McCollum of Athens, Tennessee, who passed away on December 2, 2025, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Edgar Vernon McCollum and Bernice Mae Frye McCollum; and his siblings, Herschel McCollum (Bernice) and Hesta Lena Bailey (Joe). He is survived by: his wife Velma Stone McCollum; his sons, Darris McCollum (Donna) of Ann Arbor, MI and Darwin McCollum (Donna Bea) of Smyrna, TN; his grandchildren, Katherine McCollum, Mercedes Woody (Tyler) and Griffin McCollum (Melissa); his great grandchildren, Xander Doyen, Charlize Doyen, Deacon McCollum, Phoenix McCollum and Celeste McCollum; his sibling's children, David McCollum, Douglas McCollum, Michael McCollum, Bennett Bailey and Susan McCollum-Symonds; and his cousins, J. Lynn Frye, Florence Higdon, Geraldine Lasater and Helen Phillips.
Visitation was held on Saturday, December 6th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:45 PM at the Evans Mortuary (805 N Gateway Ave, Rockwood, TN 37854). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, December 6th 2025 at 1:45 PM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Saturday, December 6th 2025 at 2:30 PM at the Oak Grove Cemetery (699 E Strang St, Rockwood, TN 37854).
