He was predeceased by: his parents, John Oliver and Lula Flippo Oliver; his wife Loucinda O'Dear Oliver; and his siblings, Charles Oliver, Lonnie Oliver, Neil Oliver, Gladys Foshee, Minnie Green and Faye Hollingsworth.
He is survived by: his children, James Oliver, Jr. (Christina), Wanda Wallace, Mary Bianchi (Ron) and Joanie Oliver; his sisters, Katherine Peacock, Eleanor Summers and Jean McLemore (Ed); his grandchildren, Jamie Staton, Brandon Oliver, Eric Oliver (Chelsey) and Caleb Oliver (Reagan); and his close friend Mary Ellen Plemons. He is also survived by 10 great grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter; several nieces and nephews.
