He was predeceased by: his parents, Hubert Grubb and Lillie Mae Rogers Grubb; his daughter Angela Grubb (Angie); and his brothers, Frank and Clyde.

He is survived by: his wife Glenda McGriff Grubb; his daughter Terri Mayberry (Vince) of Leesville; his grandchildren, Trevor, Zachary, Lauren, Kay and Anastasia Mayberry; and his brothers, Jack (Oneida), Kenneth, Dennis (JoAnn) and Wayne Grubb. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Angie Grubb Memorial Scholarship Fund, C/O McMinn County High School. 2211 Congress Parkway, Athens TN, 37303.

“I was very surprised to hear of John's passing. He always worked out and sought to remain strong and in good health. God had other plans, though, and called him home. He's now in the presence of our Savior. My grandson's graduation from U.T. prevents my being able to attend Saturday's visitation, so I wanted to use this way of expressing my deepest condolences to the family on the loss of your dear loved one. All of us who knew Johnny will miss him greatly. I am very sorry for your loss.”
