With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Paul Sliger (Athens, Tennessee), who passed away on September 5, 2025 at the age of 82. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Johnny Stanton and Ola Mae Carter Sliger; his wife Frankie Sue Rayburn Sliger; his siblings, Jackie Sliger and Evelyn Mullinax; and his daughter-in-law Tracy Jane Sliger.
He is survived by: his children, Wanda Guffey (Mike), Paul Sliger and Donnie Sliger (Robin); his grandchildren, Michael Guffey, Timmy Guffey (Calla), David Guffey (Caci), Carol Davis (Jeff), Cheryl Guffey (Jeff), Brandy Hamilton (Zac), Johnny Sliger (Jessica) and D. J. Sliger (MacKenzie); and his sisters, Ruby Goforth (Dee) and Grace Ann Womac (David). He is also survived by 36 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Sunday, September 7th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Short Creek Baptist Church (892 Co Rd 50, Athens, TN 37303). A funeral service was held on Sunday, September 7th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Sunday, September 7th 2025 at the Short Creek Baptist Church Cemetery (892 Co Rd 50, Athens, TN 37303).
