He was predeceased by: his parents, Reverend Charles Roy and Etheleen Derrick Hicks; his daughter Jeannie Hicks Blair; his siblings, Gail Moses, Charlene Thrasher and Mark Hicks; and his grandson Matt Trueblood.
He is survived by: his wife Janie Evelyn White Hicks; his daughters, Amanda Hicks Walden (Mark) and Jennifer Miller; his grandchildren, Scott Trueblood, William Blair, Weslie Blair, Alex Walden and Alli Walden; and his siblings, Becky Moses, Gene Hicks (Joan) and Doug Hicks. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 16th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Athens Free Saints True Holiness Church (637 Slack Rd, Athens, TN 37303). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 17th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Saturday, October 17th 2026 at the Riceville Cemetery (120 Co Rd 80, Riceville, TN 37370).
