He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Schafer and Mary Schafer (Schuster); and his siblings, Lawrence, Francis Schafer and Gladys Wensel.
He is survived by: his wife Deborah Schafer (Larimore); his sons, Garrett Dunnewold (Nikkie) of Cordova, TN and Austin Schafer (Jennifer) of Cincinnati, Ohio.; his grandsons, Benjamin and John Schafer (J. J.); and his sisters, JoAnn LaBarge and Alma Moyer. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
