It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ophelia Chilton in Bartlett, Tennessee, born in Steens, Mississippi, who passed away on June 11, 2023, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Mattie McCarter (Neal) and Marvin McCarter; and her brothers, Ossie McCarter and Felix McCarter. She is survived by: her children, Janet Collins of Memphis, TN, Sylvia Poole of Muskegon, MI, Myra Simpson (Jimmy) of Traverse City, MI, Lee Marvin Poole of Steens, MS and Ameilia Anderson of Muskegon, MI; her sister Bessie Jane Brown of Steens, MS; and her close friends, Chery Ellis and Catrina Ware. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, 17 Great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.
