She was predeceased by: her parents, Arvie C. Carter and Mittie O. Beasley Carter; her son Michael Ernest Vaughn; her husband Ernest Vaughn; and her siblings, Norma Wilson, Bill Carter, Cordie Carter and RJ Carter.
She is survived by: her daughters, Jana Smith (Carson) of Memphis and Lajuana Kledzik (Mark) of Bartlett, Tennessee; her granddaughters, Jessica Rodriguez Analco (Oscar), Crystal Magruder (David) and Nicole Kledzik; and her great grandchildren, Devon, Madalynn, Eleanor, Annette and Hattie Rose Magruder. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
