Rita Barbery Obituary
We announce the death of Rita Barbery of Bean Station, Tennessee, who passed away on August 27, 2026, at the age of 79. Rita will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Toy S. Thomas and Ernestine Maynard Thomas Varney; her husband Dr. Frazier H Barbery Sr.; her stepfather William G. "Buster" Varney; and her mother-in-law Frances Barbery.
She is survived by: her children, Frazier H. Barbery Jr. (Diana) and Cynthia Ellen Cruze (James); her grandchildren, Jordan H. Barbery (Liz), Frazier H. Barbery III (Lauren), Samantha Cruze and James "JC" Cruze (Dreanna); and her caregivers, Donna Greene, Casey Rogers, Christine Gosser, Emily Winstead, Chloe Bunch, Kay Trent and Jenna Royston. She is also survived by 4 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 4th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Hatfield Funeral Chapel (144 Toler Rd, Toler, KY 41514). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 4th 2026 at 7:00 PM at the Old Regular Baptist Church (30 Salem Hill, South Williamson, KY 41503). A graveside service was held on Saturday, September 5th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Mt. View Memory Gardens (119 N Mountain View Ln, Huddy, KY 41535).
In lieu of flowers, Rita requested memorial contributions in the form of cash, checks, or food donations may be made in her honor to the Victory Baptist Outreach, P.O. Box 2863, Pikeville, KY 41502.
