He was predeceased by: his parents, Mitchell Thompson and Martha Thompson; his wife Mildred Thompson; and his brothers, Jerry and Tommy Thompson.
He is survived by: his sister Judy Vicars of Kingsport; and his nephews, Jerry Thompson, Jr., Mitch Thompson of Nashville and Adam Vicars of South Carolina. He is also survived by several other nieces and nephews.
