He was predeceased by: his parents, Ruth McLemore Hardin Gillock and Edgar Cherry Gillock; and his sons-in-law, John Casey and Herbie O'Mell. He is survived by: his wife Harriet Thompson Gillock; his children, Debra Casey, Lee Gillock (Karen), Denise Fletcher (Terry), Laura O'Mell, Lorri Cordelli (Pete), Robert Gibbs (Barbara) and Ed Gillock II (Tamar); his stepdaughter Emily Parks (Jason); his grandchildren, Bill Gourley (Jenny), Amber Gillock, Cortney Kovnes (Shane), Jason Alexander, Brandon O'Mell (Catherine), Michael O'Mell, Katie Myers (Dan), Kelli Hoover (Burt), Dr. Sara Hagan (Shane), Bryan Gibbs, John Gibbs, Lydia Gillock, Claire Gillock, Georgia Gillock, Serenity Gillock, Jenny Crews (Joel), Julie Holliman (Aaron) and Thompson Parks; his sister Julia Gillock Hoppe (Bill); his nieces, Lisa Hoppe and Carol Jefferies; and his nephew Greg Hoppe. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
