He was predeceased by: his parents, Dallas Owen Stophel, Sr. and Thelma Millicent Jones Stophel; and his siblings, Guy Mack Stophel, Kenneth Wayne Stophel, Dallas Owen Stophel, Jr. and Caroline Jane Stophel.
He is survived by: his daughters, Caroline Jane Stophel-Rambin (Scott) of Memphis, TN, Cherlene Mervis (Mark) of Bristol, TN and Kristie Helms (George "Buzz") of Bristol, VA.; his grandchildren, Forrest O'Dell (Katie), Laken Wright, Savanah Wright Cross (Levi), Devon Correll, Grace Helms and Owen Rambin; his great grandchild Marshal O'Dell; and his close friends, Evelyn Cross and Earl Main.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 12th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Oakley-Cook Funeral Home (2223 Volunteer Pkwy, Bristol, TN 37620). A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 12th 2026 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 13th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Shipley Cemetery.
