He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Gerrit Coetzee and Helen Coetzee (Koch); his wife Danielle Smith; his children, Gerrit Coetzee and Johanna Turko (Michael); his stepson Zachary Kiser (Eagle Scout); his siblings, Gerhard Coetzee (Linda), Heinrich Coetzee (Maria) and Helena Kershof (Johan); his siblings' children, Gerhard Coetzee (Krevosha Pillay), Lara Coetzee, Hein Coetzee, Leana Coetzee and Johan Kershof (Rochelle Kershof); his great-nieces, Milah and Lianke; and his pet Freya.
