John Franklin Harty Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of John Franklin Harty of Bristol, Tennessee, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on May 8, 2026 at the age of 89. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Lala Parham Harty and Barney Harty Jr.; his wife Harriet; his brother-in-law Tom Griffith; and his niece Sarah Griffith.
He is survived by: his sons, John F. Harty Jr. of Knoxville, TN and Michael Harty (Nanette) of Middleton, WI.; his grandchildren, Emorie Harty and Dr. Reece Harty; his sister-in-law Nelda Griffith; and his nephew Tom Griffith.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 28th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church (700 Cumberland St, Bristol, VA 24201). A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 28th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the PatSummit.org to help find a cure for Alzheimer's disease, the Boys and Girls Club of Bristol or to Emmanuel Episcopal Church.
