He is survived by: his wife Jacki Johnson; his children, Jeff Johnson (Kathy), Michelle Gray (Rick), Stephanie Ward (Christopher) and Matt Wineman (Hollie Moody); his grandchildren, Josh Johnson (Brandy), Lauren Terrill (Tyler), Jessie Godwin (Austin), Sammy Ryans (Maggie), Savannah Johnson (Jacob Neal), Hayden Ward and Sydney Bowling (Dom); his great grandchildren, Jace Johnson, Liam Johnson, Remington Terrill, Graham Godwin, Emma Johnson, Sutton Terrill and Leighton Godwin; his sister-in-law Nadine Johnson; his nephew Chad Johnson (Erin); and the mother of his children Linda G. Surber.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 27th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Oakley Cook Funeral Home Volunteer Parkway (2223 Volunteer Pkwy, Bristol, TN 37620). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 27th 2026 at 5:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Monday, September 28th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Glenwood Cemetery (839 Bluff City Hwy, Bristol, TN 37620).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be sent to the Isaiah 117 House of Washington/Smyth/Bristol Virginia in memory of Sammy.
