He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie William and Mary Jane Brewer Hale; his wife Shirley Lundy Hale; his children, Carroll and Andy Hale; his siblings, Robert, Oscar, Lloyd, Richard, Stafford (Jake), Roy Hale, Carrie and Josephine; and his foster parents, Lucy Greear and Lee Greear.
He is survived by: his children, Tom Hale (Penny), Eddie Hale (Catherine), Butch Cooper (Cherri), Patty Hale, Peggy Price (Kenny) and Amy Hale; his grandchildren, Brian, Eric, Kelsey, Ryan, Anthony, Michael, Stacy, Marsha, Danny, Joshua, Rebecca, David, Andrew, Joey and Cody Cooper (Kelly); and his foster sister Mary Shelton (James). He is also survived by 33 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren.
