He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Everette and Brenda J. Hatcher Smothers; his daughter Billie Ray Smothers; his brother Paul "Twister" Smothers, Jr.; and his nephews, Michael Smothers and Jason Blaylock.
He is survived by: his children, Stacy Smothers of Paris, Olivia Smothers of Manchester, TN, Sarah Sykes (Brian) of Puryear, TN and Hunter Smothers of Paris; his siblings, Patricia Blaylock of Paris and Alvin Smothers (Christina) of Fulton, KY; and his grandchildren, Gracie Smothers, Matthew Amerski, Rebecca Sykes and Oliver Bennett.
