He was predeceased by: his parents, George Ross Matthews and Sarah Crocker Matthews; and his brother George Ross Matthews, Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Diane Matthews; his brother Dennis Matthews (Nancy); his sibling's children, Jesse Snider and Drew Matthews; and his pets, Lila, Gracee, Mandy and Bootsey.
A graveside service was held on Thursday, July 24th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery (693 Wildersville Rd, Parkers Crossroads, TN 38388).
