He was predeceased by: his parents, Sam Evitts and Fannie Loretta Petty Evitts; his sibling Claude David Evitts; the mother of his children Charlotte Elaine Lanius Evitts; his son Richard Evitts Sr. (Lance Corporal U. S. Marines); and his stepson Kory Clement.
He is survived by: his granddaughter Greycin Elaine Oaks; his wife Doreen; his children, Lisa Thompson (Barry) of Filmore, Sharon Evitts Troutt (Hollis), Chris Evitts (Missy) of Gallatin and Traci Oaks (Ben) of White House; his stepchild Kelly Clement Page (Gary); and his grandchildren, Richard Evitts Jr., Daniel, Samantha, Michela, Josh Jonathan, Bishop and Kolvin. He is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren; ten step-grandchildren and thirteen step great grandchildren.
