She was predeceased by: her brother David Hartzfield Jr.; and her husband Robert James Michaels. She is survived by: her children, Brenda Freeman Voelker (David) of River Pointe, Lisa Carol Teague (Larry) of Paris, Staci Mallett Brown (Karen) of Springfield, Audrey Gail Michaels of San Diego and Robert Junior Michaels II of San Diego; and her siblings, Jerry Sue Hartzfield of Elmhurst, Nancy Ada Hartzfield of Philadelphia and Johnny Mae Hartzfield of Chicago, Illinois. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
