She was predeceased by: her husband Fred William Sloan; her parents, Dillard Caruthers and Effie Mae Spivey Caruthers; and her siblings, Bertie Frances Caruthers Dickerson, Betty Gail Caruthers Hudson and Jerry Wayne Caruthers.
She is survived by: her children, Jouwonia Smith (Ricky), Marty Smith (Linda) of Murfreesboro, Ronnie Smith (Betty) of Fountain Run and Jasmine Shore (T. J.) of Newbern; her stepdaughter Lisa Johnson of Gallatin; and her sisters, Nannie Caruthers Newberry, Janice Caruthers Short (Wally) and Charlotte Caruthers Cherry (Ricky) of Lafayette. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
