She was predeceased by: her parents, Herschel Revo Chessor and Mattie Adell Horner Chessor; her husband Carl Wilson Ayers; her daughter Carolyn Faye Ayers; and her siblings, Sue Edney (Leslie), Emma Johnson (Herman) and James Chessor (Betty).

She is survived by: her daughter Melissa Ayers Pope (Ron); her grandson Ryan D. Bates (Jennifer); and her siblings, Evelyn Thompson (Dan), Ila Jenkins (Jimmy), Linda Warfield (Frank), Willie Chessor (Nancy) and Granville Chessor (Carmonet Bunch).
