He was predeceased by: his wife Annie Ruth Smith Murphree; his daughter Virginia Gwen Murphree Lane; and his parents, Charles Slaydon Murphree, Sr. and Mary Catherine Weatherspoon Murphree. He is survived by: his son Charles Steven; his children-in-law, Lisa Kay Fannin Murphree, Sr. and Larry Allen Lane (Donna); his grandchildren, Lindsey Catherine Lane Witten (John) of Elizabethtown, KY, Kevin Anderson Lane (Jessica) of Riceville, Charles Steven Murphree, Jr. (Tori) of Tullahoma, Melissa Rene Murphree of Tullahoma, Daniel Ryan Murphree (Jean) of Nashville and Grey Murphree of Honolulu, HI; his great grandchildren, Melody Ruth Witten, Madelyn Grace Witten and Charles Mackey Murphree; and his friend Maurine Dement.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 15th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Lawrence Funeral Home (203 S Horton Pkwy, Chapel Hill, TN 37034). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 16th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Saturday, May 16th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Pressgrove Cemetery (1599 Unionville Deason Rd, Shelbyville, TN 37160).
