He was predeceased by: his parents, Ed May and Euva May (Debord); his daughter Wanda Stecker; and his siblings, Carol Portwood, Ronald May and Freddie May.

He is survived by: his wife Sherri May of Charlotte, TN.; his children, Deanna Chastain (Anthony) of Ranger, GA, Michelle Black (Chuck) of Charlotte, TN, Eddie May of Georgia, Michael Petty of Charlotte, TN, Bradley May (Leah) of Dickson, TN and Patrick May; his sisters, Joyce Newby (Bobby) of Pikeville, TN and Anna Broom of Chattanooga, TN.; and his grandchildren, Cory, Jessica, Zach, Clay, Matthew, Heather, Ryan, Katelyn, Chris, Mary, Joey, Kelli, Kelsey, Brianna, Charlie and McKenzie.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital.
