We announce the death of BettyeLynn Smith (Chattanooga, Tennessee), who passed away on August 11, 2026, at the age of 81. BettyeLynn will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Hugh Lynn Smith and Bessie Thornhill Smith; her son Charles Edward "Chuck" Ashley III; and her sisters, Patricia Joyce Smith Caudle, Sylvia Juanita Smith Bone and Hazel Elizabeth Robinson Bowles.
She is survived by: her children, Daphne G. Ashley-Strong and Samuel Burrell "Timmy" Ashley; her grandchildren, Ashley Strong, Charles Ashley IV, Brandon Ashley, Jalyn Ashley Moore and Lauren Hambrick; and her caregiver Vickye Bone. She is also survived by loving great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
