He was predeceased by: his wife Edwina Varnell; and his parents, Charles D. Varnell and Annie Lee Varnell. He is survived by: his son Christopher (Jane); his granddaughters, Amelia Pruett (Matthew) and Christina Varnell; his great grandchildren, Andrew, Kyle, Abigail and Graham; and his sister-in-law Betty Jones.
Charlie was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church for over 70 years, as well as a member of the Cumberland Youth Foundation (CYF) and Turner Tennis Club.
