We are sad to announce that on April 23, 2024, at the age of 93, Charlie Mae Hurt in Chattanooga, Tennessee passed away. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Charlie Mae Hurt to pay them a last tribute.

She was predeceased by : her parents, Beatrice Scruggs and Charlie Scruggs; her husband Walter L. Hurt, Sr.; her sister Luzean Gurley; and her son Michael Elmore Hurt.

She is survived by : her son Walter L. Hurt, Jr. (Stephanie); her granddaughter Brittany Lewis (Desmond, Sr.); her great grandchildren, Desmond Jr., Denim and Daxton; her son Ronnie Benton (Linda); her niece Wanda Thomas (Ron); and her close friends, Gwen Walton and Caroline Robinson. She is also survived by several loving cousins, a great nephew, niece, and a host of other relatives.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 30th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the John P. Franklin Funeral Home (1101 Dodds Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37404). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, May 1st 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Second Missionary Baptist Church (2305 E 3rd St, Chattanooga, TN 37404). A burial was held on Wednesday, May 1st 2024 at the Beautiful Greenwood Cemetery (1954 Greenwood Rd, Chattanooga, TN 37406).
