He was predeceased by: his parents, Prioleau Shope and Queenie Shope; his siblings, Billy, Bobby Shope and Betty Dalton; and his grandson William Beckman IV.
He is survived by: his wife Cleta Daves Shope of Franklin; his daughters, Sabrina Shope Beckman, Donna Shope Dowlen and Jane Shope Peterson; and his siblings, Wayne Shope and Thelma Cochran. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
