She was predeceased by: her father James Blackwell; her husband Joe Max Sims; her father Carlos Knight Blackwell; her grandmother Ada "Ma" Harris Blackwell; her son Walter Grant "Buddy" Sutherland, Jr.; her grandson Steven Cox; and her brothers, Lawrence Blackwell, Harold Blackwell and Lloyd "Body" Blackwell.
She is survived by: her children, Tim Sutherland (Amanda) of Soddy Daisy and Terri Parsons (Terry) of Chattanooga, Tennessee; her sister Martha Jean Tipton of Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia; and her grandchildren, Joanna Genco, Joshua Parsons, Tracy Cox, Brandon Parsons, Mark Frix, Jr. and Aric Sutherland. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, and multiple nieces and nephews.
